Rossendale Combining are long established Company and have been manufacturing laminated or combining textile products for over 100 years and are part of the British Vita Group.
They supply to many Industries such as medical, apparel and footwear .Household and Automotive with processes which include flame lamination, adhesive lamination, coatings & treatment along with pressure sensitive adhesive coatings & tapes.
With rising costs in energy bills the engineering department were given the task to look energy saving projects where the greatest benefits could be achieved.
In cooperation with ABB and Halcyon Drives the benefits of driving their compressors with an AC inverter was investigated and on the appraisal a payback period on saved energy was in the order of 1.25 Years. Rossendale placed the order on these findings and Halcyon Drives supplied, installed and commissioned the ABB ACS 550 Drive along with a pressure transducer in the pressure vessel. After a few months running it was clear the savings were better than the original appraisal with a payback expected less than a year.
Rossendale’s Engineer Andrew Lord after studying energy savings saw a further opportunity on the compressor and when demand is very low the Inverter drives the motor at tick over speed of 19Hz saving more energy during these periods.
